MCC Women's Volleyball Team receives 2025 NJCAA Sportsmanship Award

MESA, Ariz. – December 4, 2025 – Mesa Community College (MCC) Women’s Volleyball was honored with the 2025 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Volleyball National Championships Sportsmanship Award, recognizing MCC’s integrity, professionalism and representation of the college throughout the national tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The award is presented to the team that best embodies respect for opponents, officials, event staff and the championship environment. MCC stood out across all five matches, displaying competitive excellence while upholding the standards of the NJCAA and the spirit of collegiate athletics.

“We had such a strong group of sophomores who welcomed our freshmen from day one. And those freshmen didn’t just fit in—they rose to the moment and matched the energy and intensity our program prides itself on. They were a blast to coach and even more fun to be around every single day,” said MCC Head Coach Jordan Herrington. “Their connection and character are exactly why we earned the sportsmanship award this season.”

MCC finished 6th nationally after entering as the No. 9 seed, earning victories over No. 18 Davidson-Davie Community College (N.C.), No. 10 St. Johns River State College (Fla.), and No. 3 Parkland College (Ill.), while also posting the program's highest win total under Head Coach Jordan Herrington.
