MCC Fashion students debut “Desert in Bloom” runway show

MESA, Arizona -- April 28, 2026 -- Mesa Community College invites the community to the Desert in Bloom Spring Fashion Show,” 6 p.m., May 1, in the Navajo Room on the Southern and Dobson Campus, 1833 W. Southern Ave., Mesa. Free and open to the public, the event features more than 80 original designs by MCC Fashion Program students along with musical entertainment by MCC’s DJ program.

"From concept to runway our students will demonstrate their ability to transform ideas into compelling visual experiences with originality and purpose," said MCC Fashion Design Occupational Program Director Kimberly Broxham.

Opening the show will feature designs by MCC’s Artists of Promise fashion winners Yukiko Devine, Melissa Gardner, Kallie Johnston, Heather Maahs and  Andrea Prieto.

In recognition of Earth Month, the show will also feature sustainable designs by approximately 50 students from the Fashion Design program.

Unlike many fashion programs, MCC welcomes individuals interested in learning specific skills, such as draping or sewing and those interested in earning an Associate in Applied Science degree.
